You may have heard or read about service dogs that have the ability to provide people with seizures some warning before these events happen, and you may have recently seen information on service dogs that can detect certain substances, such as peanuts, in the same manner that specially-trained narcotics dogs do. Our family had been passively doing research into seizure-response dogs and the training that was involved since Heather Bain developed seizures at the age of 13. Over the past 10 years, extensive medical testing has diagnosed with a few other health conditions, including a somewhat rare allergy syndrome that has caused Heather to have a very high number of allergies and to experience anaphylaxis frequently, and have led to many of her physicians recommending that our family consider applying for a service dog that is able to respond to her seizure and syncope, as well as possibly be trained to detect and respond to the most potentially fatal allergies that Heather has. After nine years of research, applications to the small number of service dog organizations that offer seizure-response service dogs, and being told Heather was not a candidate for their programs because she had too many other complicating health issues, we have finally found a non-profit that has offered to place and train a service dog.
These intelligent, incredibly well-trained dogs are extremely difficult to find, and require months of intensive and expensive training. In order to cover the costs associated with training and taking care of this special miracle dog, we have developed this website both as a source of information and offer hand-made cards and other items that can be purchased, with all of the money earned from sales going either towards our miracle service dog, or to the service dog organization so that we can ensure that others who need these special companions are able to do.
We also very much appreciate the prayers, kind words, and support that many have already given our family; it truly means so much to us, and hope that you can enjoy looking through our items!
Thank you again so much for your interest, and for all of your help! Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to assist you, and we hope you will check our website often! Thank you again!
